Our Engraving Services
Sheridan’s has extensive knowledge of general and commercial engraving. We provide the material or we can engraved material supplied to us.
Here at Sheridan’s we have three main types of general engraving, these include rotary, laser and diamond tip.
Rotary engraving uses a rotating cutting tool. The tool cuts deep enough into the material so it can be paint filled later with soft enamel paint. This is used mainly on brass or stainless steel where the customer wants coloured text.
Laser etching uses a high energy beam to mark the material. The detail is very sharp and usually very shallow or flush with the surface, depending on the material. This is used mainly for stainless steel, plastic and wood.
Diamond tip engraving uses a very sharp cone shaped diamond tip. This is sharp enough to leave a lasting mark on the material.
The main materials we supply and can engrave are:
- Plastic Laminates
- Anodised Aluminium – Available in several colours
- Stainless Steel
- Other Metals
Plastic Laminates – One-week production time
Metals – Two weeks production time
Rotary engraving uses special fonts known as engraving fonts. These tend to be traditional fonts such as Times New Roman, Helvetica, Arial etc.
Laser engraving can use almost any windows font. This is more suitable for cursive and non-traditional fonts.
